When is the best time to take maternity photos?
Most expecting parents schedule maternity portraits between 28 and 36 weeks. At that point your bump is beautifully round but you are usually still comfortable enough to move and pose with ease.
When should newborn photos be taken?
Most families book somewhere in the first three or four weeks, though we've photographed plenty of newborns later than that and the pictures are lovely. Because we work naturally rather than in deep-sleep posed setups, we aren't tied to a narrow window. Reach out during pregnancy and we'll hold a rough date around your due date.
Do you do the wrapped, curled-up posed newborn look?
Only lightly. We use simple, secure posing where the baby is comfortable with it, but we don't build elaborate setups or ask a newborn to hold shapes they don't fall into naturally. If a heavily posed studio look is what you're after, we'll happily point you toward a specialist. What we do is capture your baby as they actually are in these weeks, with your family in the frame.
What should I bring to a newborn session?
Bring extra diapers, a change of clothes, a pacifier, and any props with sentimental value. Feeding your baby just before we begin helps keep them sleepy, settled, and content throughout the session.
How long does a newborn session take?
Usually an hour to 90 minutes, and we let the baby set the pace. Feeds happen, diapers get changed, and none of it is a problem. We'd rather work with your baby's schedule than fight it.
Where do newborn sessions take place?
Usually in your home, throughout Atlantic County and the surrounding shore towns. Our Northfield studio is available if you'd prefer, and Fresh 48 sessions take place at the hospital. Whichever you choose, the goal is the same: a calm room and no rush.
